The Ultimate Biohazard Cleaner: Auto Detailing in Edmonton for Extreme Stains like Blood, Smoke & Beyond

Hey Stephane, how’s it going?
Not too bad—how about you?
I’m doing all right, so today we wanted to talk a little bit about your new service that you’re providing here. It’s a really biohazard cleanup service that is, you know, new to me, but it’s, I think, an extra value add for the fleet detailing that your company provides. So maybe let’s start off with what it is.

Well, it’s a—it’s a product that, it’s not necessarily new on the market, but it’s been more and more used for biohazard. It’s good against basically anything that’s organic and something that we’re trying to push because it’s really up our alley, because we do a lot of commercial work and we, you know, mice remediation; we’ll do smoke remediation as well, and what this product does is it basically kills anything that’s organic.

What Does It Clean Up?

Okay, so what kinds of things does it clean up?
It’ll do blood, it’ll do smoke, it’ll do urine—anything like that, and there’s a certain process to clean. There’s two forms: one is liquid, one is gas, so it depends on the application.

Okay.
If it’s—if it’s smoke, for example—it’s everywhere—then we’ll use the gas, and that permeates everything and it neutralizes the smoke, but the process is longer. So we have to put the chemical in, release it inside the vehicle, close the doors, and we gotta make sure that the filter is out so that it can go into the ventilation system. Then it has to stay in there overnight, so the process is longer, obviously.

But if it’s something where it’s more like a spill, then we can actually take the liquid and treat the spot, okay, and it neutralizes; and it, for example, if it’s a blood spill, it basically turns it white and dries it up and it’s gone. So then you just—you can vacuum it up, and if you really want to do extraction you can, but the chemical itself neutralizes everything.

Getting the Smoke Smell Out of a Vehicle

Okay, now back to the smoke one. So let’s say you’re doing a smoke remediation in a vehicle—say you had a company vehicle, somebody smoked in it, or if it’s a car that someone was just a smoker and they wanted to get rid of that smoke smell from their car so they’re going to sell it. So step one is, you know, trap the gas in the car for twenty-four hours, let it go; what do you do after that?

Why do we do the gas—no, what happens after?
Okay, yeah. So the gas pretty well permeates everything, but when you’re dealing with, for example, the seats—so if you’re doing the seats, the gas only penetrates a little bit, right? So it’s okay for the headliner and surfaces that are hard, but when it comes to carpets and seats, then it’s good to do an additional treatment of the liquid product, and so it soaks in and it goes in deeper.

Okay. Then after that, do you—do you detail it afterwards, or do you just leave it at that?
Yeah, yeah. Obviously they bring us a car that’s really, really bad—like, like it’s dirty—then we’ll clean it first, right, and then get it to a neutral position, then attack it with the neutralizer for the odors.

Getting Biological Spills Out of a Vehicle

Okay, now go to—let’s say—a spill: urine, blood, vomit, that kind of stuff. That process—how does that work, and then afterwards do you always detail it, like what’s your recommendation for the customer?
Yeah, unless, for example, the car was just cleaned and it looks, everything’s good, but you know, like let’s say it’s a taxi, right? Everything looks great, but then somebody was sick; then we could just treat the area. But if the car needs a detailing, we’re not just going to want to just treat the area; we’re going to want to do the whole—the whole car, because you gotta remember we’re going to have a nice clean spot and everything else is going to look dirty.

So if it’s a commercial vehicle—you know, especially if it’s something where, like, a taxi or limo—you want everything to look clean. So it depends on what it is. Obviously, if the customer comes, you know, and they had a party in the weekend, one of their friends, you know, was sick in the back of the car, and the car needs a detail, then obviously we’re going to encourage the owner to get a detailing as well.

Now, you’ve mentioned limos and taxis, so obviously any kind of ride share would benefit from this service if they have a spill or whatever. Now who else is a good customer for this—this biohazard cleanup?
Well, I mean, we just did three police vehicles this week, and it—so it was a scene where somebody died and their blood got into the cars, and so it was a biohazard cleanup for blood. So obviously police vehicles, ambulances, any type of emergency vehicle.

Cleaning Up Messes from Mice

When it comes to, like, mice remediation, that could be even a camper, you know, or it could be a semi-truck that’s been sitting there a few weeks and mice got into it—I mean, we—we kind of see it, see it all. When it comes to biohazard, it is always something somewhere, right? So it could be almost anybody. But the main, main ones that could benefit from it—from biohazard cleanup—would be police, fire, ambulance, and then from there limousines, ride share, taxis. These—the types of companies—are more of the big players in the game.

But even anybody who—you know, we’ve had it happen to us one time: we went for a test drive in a car, had our son in the back, and he had something that just disagreed with him and he vomited all over the car. I didn’t—this was a long time ago—didn’t have anything back in the day to neutralize that, so I did the best I could with all the cleaners and stuff that I had at home, but it would have been sure nice to have something that would just kill it, deodorize it, neutralize it, get rid of it, and then we can move on our way. But it’s—yeah, no, it’s really good that you guys have this option.

Cleans a Variety of Surfaces

So why did you decide on the particular product that you’re using, and, like, what does it actually do—like how does it break down everything and kind of eliminate?
Well, the product uses chlorine dioxide, and what that does is, it basically breaks down the molecules and neutralizes—so it kills, in essence, the molecule. So we can’t use it against natural fibers like cotton or silk; it’ll actually break that down. But when we’re talking about a car, it’s plastics for the most part, rubbers, glass, acrylic.

What about leather?
Leather—it can clean leather. We have a certain window of time for leather where we can clean up and neutralize, and then we can detail it. If it stays on too long, then it will start to eat the leather.

Wow, that’s incredible. So you really have to know what you’re doing when you’re using this product.
Yes, yes. I mean, that’s why they don’t sell it on the shelf at the Can-Tire.

And you guys probably have to mask up and use all kinds of protective gear too, right?
Yeah, it’s an agent—it’ll start to irritate the lungs, so we have to have the face mask with a proper respirator for that chemical, and because it’s a biohazard too, we have our hazmat suit on and our gloves, so we treat that like any type of biohazard.

Well, the best way, whether they go to our website or they find us on Google My Business, is to give us a phone call. We always have somebody to answer the phone, and we can really get the gist of what they need. You know, if it’s an emergency—sometimes we’ll get a call and they need something cleaned right away—it’s quicker for us to make arrangements, try to get them, you know, fit them in, because some of these spills you don’t want to wait too long.

Mind you, our chemical—it doesn’t matter, for example, if it was a spill that, you know, just happened or it’s a week later. Like, for example, somebody spilled a coffee—a latte—you know the smell gets worse after a week, but that won’t make a difference for our product; it’ll work in either situation. But if it’s something like paint—getting a paint spill—time is very important, because once that paint starts to harden and cure, it’s a lot harder for us to break it up and extract it, so that is time-sensitive.

When it comes to smoke remediation, that doesn’t really matter; it could be, you know, four years of smoking or just, you know, smoke from—like, we—we did a few police cars that went to the fire and in and out of the cars, and smoke smell does go into the cars, you know, so that’s not a problem; we can treat that whenever they have availability.

Okay, well, is there any other information that you’d like to share with people who might be watching this video?
Well, a lot of times when we used to do these remediations before with other types of enzymes, and those were not really a hundred percent effective, so it was always like, “Well, you know, it’s the best that’s out on the market, it’ll do what it can,” but this product here is guaranteed to work—like, there is no “hope it works” attitude: it works.
